Accepting new students for Fall 2026!

I would be delighted to come alongside you in your musical journey, whether you are a parent exploring your child’s interest in music, a current piano student transferring from another teacher, a high school student preparing to study piano in college, or an adult returning to piano or starting for the first time.

Piano lessons should teach you how to play music you love, whether that be classical, pop, rock, jazz, or other genres. I don’t believe in a one-size fits all approach—my teaching is tailored to each student. I do believe that learning should be fun, and that students thrive in an environment that is supportive and encouraging.

Fees

Michael Newland Piano Studio operates on a semester schedule (Fall: September-January; Spring: February-June; and Summer: June-August). Tuition is a semester membership, indicating a commitment to study for the full semester. Full semester tuition* is to be paid before the start of each semester and includes:

1. Personalized lessons from a teacher with a degree in piano performance
2. A recurring lesson time for the entire semester, mutually agreed upon by the student and teacher
3. Music and materials, including supplementary music (except niche music may be billed additionally)
4. Access to the teacher for questions
5. Access to optional events and exams (additional fees may apply)
6. Priority scheduling for upcoming semesters

Tuition also supports lesson planning, studio administration and development, studio events (when offered), and the teacher's commitment to long-term planning and repertoire selection, ongoing research in the field of piano teaching, and participation in professional development workshops and conferences.

Need-based scholarships are available for students age 18 and under and are valid for one full year of instruction. Renewal of scholarships is dependent on available funding, parent financial situation, and satisfactory progress/effort of the student.
